The Big Give Christmas Challenge 2022
​

For one week only, BHN are doubling your donations! Yep, you read it right – every donation you give online from the 12pm on 29th November until 12pm 6th December will be match-funded, doubling its value. We hope to raise a whopping £20,000. Can you help us?

When: Funding window is from 12pm on 29th November, closing 12pm 6th December

How: Sign up to our email mailing list here to receive updates, and donate online through The Big Give here during the funding window (DON’T donate outside the funding window, as your donation won’t be doubled through match-funding)

Who: Match-funding of up to £10,000 has been pledged by supporters of BHN and The Human Rights Fund . Every donation we receive from you will ‘unlock’ the equivalent amount of match-funding – you give £100, we receive £200!

The need for this money

It is difficult for people seeking asylum to provide the right evidence to support their claim. If they are refused, they lose their accommodation, have no right to work, and no recourse to public funds. While they can appeal this decision, this can take months or years, during which they have no income, resulting in destitution for many. Coupled with the increased cost of living, the UK is an expensive place to be, with even basic essentials affected.

What it will be spent on

Your donation will help us provide our Solidarity Fund of £30 per week for all BHN members (defined as people seeking asylum and hosted in our accommodation in Bristol). This will be commonly used for food, toiletries, clothing, cleaning products and bus tickets. We cannot fundraise for cash from any other source, so your donations for this most-requested support is vital to our members. Alongside, we also meet their need for accommodation, help with asylum claims, and support wellbeing.
